OPEN TRIUMPH
“And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it – Colossians 2:15.”
There are powers and authorities. I would not have you ignorant that there are principalities and spiritual wickedness. Above all, let this mind be in you that all power belongs to God – “
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth – Matthew 28:18.
” That’s why you must have heard that Jesus power is Super-power. It is not as though we are making comparison because there is no power but God’s – “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God – Romans 13:1.”
Today, we shall be considering
the power of victory which is in Christ Jesus. In the book of Colossians, it is
made known to us the manner with which every believer has victory through
Christ Jesus. How? Christ Jesus the Saviour went ahead by His death and
resurrection to conquer death, grave and the prince of this world. After which
He granted victory over death to those who believe Him as their Saviour and
Lord. This is the victory that overcometh the world even our faith – 1Jn.
5:4-5.
Now what are these principalities
and powers? Let’s consider two or three for now. The first that is mentioned in
this text is sin. To triumph over sin is not in the power of any man to boast
or give. Victory over sin can only be given by God. There is no other way or
means by which victory of over sin can be ascertained. Many who tried to work
this out themselves ended in frustration and they concluded it is impossible.
Listen, with men this is impossible but with God all things are possible. So,
Christ has come to give us victory over sin that it must be fulfilled which is
written “The Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins”.
The second victory we receive is
over the law. There are ordinances which the arm of flesh cannot contain and
the strength of man cannot keep. Who among men can naturally boast of being
able to overcome the ten commandments let alone the over sic hundred laws?
Nevertheless, when the Lord Jesus came, He gave grace to His own and by His
grace they can boast of saying “This is the love of God that we keep His
commandments and His commandments are not grievous.”
The third on the list is the
curse. All men are under curse since the fall. Do not be deceived, so far you
are of the first man and remain under him, there is a curse. Naturally, this is
the situation of all men since Adam. We have principalities and powers for
curse. How do I mean? It is written that – “…and took it out of the way,
nailing it to his cross – Col. 3:14.” What did Jesus take away to the cross?
The curse. Yes, He took the curse – “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of
the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that
hangeth on a tree – Gal. 3:13.”
Over these and many more are what
Christ Jesus gave all believers victory. He took the challenge, fought the
battle and handed us the victory. Therefore, in Christ Jesus, we can confess,
“we are more than conquerors.” More than conquerors over what exactly? Over
sin, law, death and curse.
Just a word or two unto you who
are without Christ in this world. You stand the chance of being defeated
always. It is guaranteed. In Christ alone is your victory. Believe and obey
Him, and you shall be triumphant over the power of sins, strength of law, sting
of death and the curse of the law.
TRIUMPHANT GREETINGS TO YOU
