EAT THE WORD

“Neither have I gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have esteemed the words of His mouth more than my necessary food – Job 23:12.” Food, as intended by God, was created to serve some purposes one of which is strength. The plants and herbs created were for food, in fact, it was written that they were good for food. It is therefore imperative that God made food for strength. For instance, in the book of first kings, it was said of Elijah that – “And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God – 1Kgs. 19:8.” We see that food is a channel of strength. Note this and mark it clearly, food is not the source of strength. It is only one of the means or channels to it [strength]. When Apostle Peter was writing about food, he noted – “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby – 1Pet. 2:2.” In this case, we see that food is also a kind of requirement for gr...

SPEAK FAITH - I

"We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak – 2Corinthians 4:13.” Word is powerful. This is because word carries authority. We have heard about men and women in authority whose word bound to whomsoever it was spoken. In Scriptures, people’s life was sharpened and others got theirs destroyed due to the same. Words are not what we should take for granted. God is word. More so, God is word, as it is written for us in the book of John. This is to tell us The WORD is not just word. It more than joining alphabets together and pronouncing them to produce a sound after vibrating in the air or wind. This is more than word. Take for instance, as we have known that God is the Word, consider the following also: “ Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear – Hebrews 11:3 .” This is to tell...

AS IT IS WRITTEN

AS IT IS WRITTEN Pilate answered, What I have written I have written – John 19:22. Here is a man whom we could call a judge in his days because he occupied such position in his province before whom the people of the land came to hear their judgement. We know he was in authority during the trial of Jesus Christ when the Lord responded to one of his questions saying “ …Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above… - John 19: 11.” Let us leave much speaking about the background today and move on to the subject of the matter. The reason for this text is to draw comparison howbeit in a very minute sense with God. We have here a man who wrote something and the people demanded or requested, so to say, that it should be changed to which he replied them “ …what I have written, I have written .” He said it in such a way, manner and tone as if to tell them , “I cannot undo what I have done” or “I cannot change what I have written”. If this be true in the cas...
