SWEETS AND TRAPS
“Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant – Proverbs 9:17.” Devil’s wiles haven’t changed. His antics, whims and devices are ever the same. The ways and methods he is accustomed to aren’t gonna change anytime soon. Like Jeremiah wrote, we could as well apply it to him that – “Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil – Jer. 13:23.” Since we know that it is the blessing of the Lord that maketh rich and He addeth no sorrow to it, the devil’s own is similar but in the opposite direction. The “blessing” of the devil maketh poorer because of the sorrow he adds to and with it. Would God that I have the tongue of the angels to describe the sweetness of stolen waters and the pleasantness of the bread eaten in secret.
