PROSPEROUS CITY

  “Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem – Zechariah 1:17.”   Prosperity is the song the world sings in this age. The countries round about us are flaunting their “what they call” riches. We have nations to which the title of “world power” is attributed. You know why? It is majorly because of economic factors. When you begin to rate the GDP, GNP and standard of living of these nations, one would begin to think them to be prosperous.   Ha! Come let us look into their streets and see how prosperous they are. See how their young men and teens are being slain by drugs and other forms of hard and soft substances. The old aren’t too much into drug but they are full of covetousness and eyes of lusts which cannot be satisfied. Their young ladies are daughters of whoredom and offspring of immoralities. JESUS CARES FOR THE WIDOWS

“A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in His holy habitation – Psalms 68:5.”   All men are God’s by creation. No man is made out of self-imagination from himself. None! God created all men. This is the reason He is known as the God of all flesh. This name is not just for title’s sake. There is more to the name thaN we could possibly think. God made it clear to us in His word that – “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine… - Ezk. 18:4.”   This leads us into today’s topic: Jesus cares for the widows. This does not literally mean He doesn’t care for others. But we shall be concentrating on the particularity of the case before us.   God takes the position of a Judge when it comes to the widows. He does not want anyone to cheat them. To God, it is His nature to defend those who have no one to fight for them. He shows up for the weak, vulnerable and those who have no might.
