PROSPEROUS CITY
“Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem – Zechariah 1:17.”
Prosperity is the song the world sings in this age. The countries
round about us are flaunting their “what they call” riches. We have nations to
which the title of “world power” is attributed. You know why? It is majorly
because of economic factors. When you begin to rate the GDP, GNP and standard
of living of these nations, one would begin to think them to be prosperous.
Ha! Come let us look into their streets and see how prosperous they are. See how their young men and teens are being slain by drugs and other forms of hard and soft substances. The old aren’t too much into drug but they are full of covetousness and eyes of lusts which cannot be satisfied. Their young ladies are daughters of whoredom and offspring of immoralities. Yet these nations are seen to be prosperous. Most prosperous cities of the world are to be nicknamed or called the “LAODICEANS.” You ask why? The church in Laodicea said –
“…I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing… - Rev. 3:17.”It is a pity that these nations do not have the true picture of their state. They only assumed they are prospering. When God shall show them their identity, it shall be a shocking one to them because they –
“…knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.”
Now, what is the prosperous city? This is the city of God.
no nation of the world can be said to be prosperous in the real sense of the
world. A single economic meltdown can crumble the economy of all nations of the
world. A one-time natural disaster can render the treasures of many nations void
and empty. See, a disease can ravage the world that is capable of rendering the
mighty nations to be humble and the lofty look of the strong one shall be made
to be melancholic.
These are the characteristics of the cities this side Jordan
of heaven and all those who put their treasures therein. Christ Jesus already
warned us to keep our treasures where thieves cannot break into, where moth and
canker do not corrupt. This is where we refer to as the prosperous city. See,
what a height this city is lifted! See with what glory it is adorned! Oh, how
prosperous this city is, shall be and will ever be. They who put their trust,
hope and confidence in the world system in this earth shall at last come to
weep and mourn for their loss because by the wrath of God and the fury of the
Most High, this world and its Babylon system shall sink into oblivion and shall
never come to remembrance.
Oh, how great their joy shall be those whose hope, trust and
confidence are in God. these are they who are called the prosperous cities.
They are the temples of God – the very vessels in which God dwells and resides.
The have the Judge of the whole earth, the Possessor of the Heaven and Earth.
What marvellous treasures they are!
Brethren, be glad and rejoice because eye are the temple of
the Living God. and the combination of these temples shall one day become a
great city in which the throne of God and His kingdom shall reign and be
established forever. You are prosperous if you are counted to be among these
temples having the Holy Spirit inside of you.
What a woe! What a fear! What a loss! What a tear shall be
for those who have their earthly goods now having squandered their inheritance
and wasted their habitations? Listen, if you are not in Christ and you are against
everything godly and goodly ordained for you by God by salvation, think not
that you are prosperous because there awaiteth you great damnation that none of
what you have seen or heard can be compared. Never you so build an empire as
great as the Rome of old and the ancient Persia, they shall become null, void,
empty and desolate. Let not your effort be in vain. Repent and turn to Christ
Jesus today and so shall you have a prepared place which is prosperous for you.
PROSPERITY GREETINGS
