THE BELOVED'S VOICE

“I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night – Songs of Solomon 5:2.”

Was this a prayer or heart desire of a man? Could this be the musing of his heart, the meditation in his mind and the words on his lips? Whatever this was, is or would be, it is definite that there was a longing in the soul of the one who penned this. There was an appetite within which kept coming having become a fountain that cannot run dry. It was the voice of the one he loved. Such is the voice of God to those whom He loves. The voice of God is beloved to them. As a Shepherd, His sheep will always hear His voice. The same goes to our God as touching the voice of His elects. They are His beloved too. Their voice to Him, is the voice of the beloved. We shall address this lesson under two points. First, God’s voice to His people. Second, God’s people and their voice unto God.

When was the last time you heard the voice of your Beloved, O man? True, remember the day when the light of His word was the muse of your heart, when the shining countenance of the Most High was to you more than light and life? Then when He spoke to you, you yearned to hear more of His voice than any other. It was then true that nothing else could substitute it. What has happened now? Oh, I know. You have started listening to the voice of the tempter. The voice of the world around and the tumult within is becoming louder and more real to you than the voice of Whom you claimed to serve and worship.

Turn, seek and hear the voice of Your Beloved again. Let not the voice of sin and the echoes of iniquity drive you from the arena of His Word. Arise, O prodigal. Come home. Come walking, come running, come crying shouting as you come unto your Father. Come hear the voice of His consolation again. Let ears hearken to the voice of His correction and discipline again for then it were better for you than now. Arise, come close to hear Him. The disciples would not substitute the voice of their beloved Master for another. To them, that voice was more precious than the Pharisees. More precious to them was His voice than those of the scribes and law hypocrites. So, let it be to you friends. Let us hear the voice of our Beloved once again and that perpetually inseparable from Him. Let His voice to us silence that of sexual desire, money, fame, position and whatever possession. Let the voice of God be that which wakes you up from sleep and the same be what you hear even when about going to bed. Oh, that we will hear the voice of our BELOVED again. Oh, that THIS VOICE silence that of the tempter in us perpetually and forever in the name of Jesus Christ.

It is a double-edged sword. Daniel was beloved to his God for so he was addressed –

“…O Daniel, a man greatly beloved… - Dan. 10:11.”
The voices of Moses and Samuel were to God the voice of beloved for they interceded on behalf of His people. Even the man Abraham was beloved to Him whom God reffered to as a friend –
“But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend – Is. 41:8.”
They called upon Him and He answered them. The Lord will not suffer the feet of His saint to stumble. The same goes to their voice – He will never allow the words of their voice to fall to the ground. Who are these? They are those who have kept themselves from defilement. They didn’t defile themselves with the king’s dainties. These are they who thirsted after the presence of God for they would not allow the deadness in the spirit of men in their days to make them follow the evil trend. Instead, it drove them to hunger and thirst more for the True and Living God until He sent them His voice. Are you desiring to be God’s beloved again? Or perhaps you have been His beloved in the former times but now more and now you have this pressing to be His again. Sir, come unto Christ Jesus now because it is through Him alone you will be accepted. He is the Beloved of the Father. No other way to become beloved than through the Only Begotten Son. One benefit of being beloved is that when they call, God will answer.
