SPEAK FAITH - I

"We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak – 2Corinthians 4:13.”

Word is powerful. This is because word carries authority. We have heard about men and women in authority whose word bound to whomsoever it was spoken. In Scriptures, people’s life was sharpened and others got theirs destroyed due to the same. Words are not what we should take for granted. God is word. More so, God is word, as it is written for us in the book of John. This is to tell us The WORD is not just word. It more than joining alphabets together and pronouncing them to produce a sound after vibrating in the air or wind. This is more than word.

Take for instance, as we have known that God is the Word, consider the following also: “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear – Hebrews 11:3.” This is to tell us that THE WORD OF GOD IS POWERFUL. “For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water – 2Peter 3:5” and “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth – Psalms 33:6.” These are what The Word of God does.

More so, as we have been born of Him, called, sanctified and justified through faith in Christ Jesus, it is just normal to know that the same is applicable to us. Our words must be spoken in the same magnitude too having the same effect.

Jesus already warned us beforehand that – “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned – Matthew 12:36-37.”

As much as we must be cautious and conscious of what we speak, the next and important thing to note is, speaking in faith. Our chosen text tells us that what we speak must proceed from faith. We aren’t to be speaking anyhow. Consider the text again, “We having the same spirit of faith…” By and with what spirit do we speak? We must pray God for the Spirit of faith. Children of God do not just speak anyhow or for the purpose of speaking. Their Father do not speak anyhow too. There is what we call Spirit of faith. When we drink of this Spirit, what we speak then becomes authenticated.

The next point after the Spirit of faith is speaking by the same. Do not just speak; speak because you have faith. This is the reason Jesus said, we would be judged for every idle word we speak. You see, God does not know joke. He is not a Joker. He does not recognize, “Oh, that, I was just joking.” No! This time around we must speak out of or in faith. Please take the word of Christ Jesus seriously. When He said “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned”, He meant it.

The kind of word that will bring justification to a man is speaking in faith. Why do I say so? It is written thus: “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ – Romans 5:1.” You see that? Faith brings justification. Do you want to be justified? Let your words be spoken in and by faith. But if thou art condemned, it is because you do not believe in the Lord Jesus. Those who do not believe shall speak and haul condemnation over themselves. Be wise!
