PRAYER: REST IN THE LORD

 PRAYER: REST IN THE LORD

Many are Thy works and lovingkindness, Oh Lord. They are much than what we can estimate. We say they are “marvelous in our eyes” because they are past finding out. If we had sought for them and found them, we would have said, “our wisdom and might brought us what we desired.” This would have limited our reference for you and the rate at which we honour you. In this awe, we come to you to declare unto you that which is written concerning you in Thy book that, “the secret things belong to God but those things that are revealed belong to us…” Therefore, Father, we thank you for little fragments out of your numerous secrets which you have revealed to us so far. Why would you have confided in us so much and well to have revealed such classified information unto mortals even the hidden things from the foundation of the world which are not known to the hosts of heaven? Lord, we say like David that, “who is man?” Who am I before? A dust! A speck of particle in the space. I return all glories to you, O Lord.

How many there are in the world who sought for rest where no rest is? How many there are who trusted in one thing or the people, place or position, state or stage for rest? They are of all men most miserable because before their very eyes, their trust in those things like a smoke vanished away and their hope like the fowls of the air mounted up with wings and flew off. Look around and see those people of whom we speak who trusted all others except Jesus for help and rest; they are among the men who now having their faces covered with regrets saying, “How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof.” Oh my son, take instruction and live. Be not like they that would not trust on Jesus Christ for rest and help… Are you ready to seek Him for help and rest also…?

LET US PRAY

1. Father, thus far, I can boldly say you have not dealt with me after my sins; nor rewarded me according to me iniquities. To this end you have given rest roundabout. Blessed be Thy Name, Oh God – Josh. 21:44; Ps. 103:10.

2. Oh Lord my Father (3x), thank you for the establishment and advancement of your Kingdom in my life coming to reality for all to see to the glory of your name in the name of Jesus Christ – Dan. 2:44; Lk 1:32-33.

3. My Father, in your mercy, purge me and give me grace not to fret because of challenges. Forgive and heal my unbelief in the name of Jesus. I am sorry for running here and there, helter skelter for rest where is no rest. Have on me Oh Lord my God – Zech. 12:10; Gen. 50:17.

4. Oh Lord, visit all the way-faring men, your servants who worship you day and night who are made spectacles to the world and give them a peaceable rest as reward in their labour in the name of Jesus – Jer. 50:34.

5. Father, there are some in our land who borne affliction including us. The trials and challenges are targeted to take our lives. Father, our healer, terminate the hedge and strength of affliction in our lives, homes, marriages, health, churches, nation etc. and give us rest in the name of Jesus – Nahum 1:9.

6. Oh Lord my helper (5x), the worries of the responsibilities before me, of labour and various activities are hitting me harder and eating deeper into my Soul. Oh my God, come, help and speak rest into my life. Give me all round rest to the glory of your name in the name of Jesus – Lk. 10:40.

7. Father, sickness and diseases in our bodies are making us to be restless. They are causing us to age faster than normal. The land is not yielding her increase because sickness and diseases are plagues causing death and loss. Lord, the rest we seek and ask for is rest in healing in the name of Jesus – Ps. 147:3; Ex. 15:26.

8. Oh Lord, it is written in your word concerning those that err that, “there is no peace for the wicked, saith the Lord.” Without peace there is no rest. Father, please, let your Spirit go into the hearts of the rebellious and sinners and turn them unto you so that they may have rest indeed in the name of Jesus – Is. 48:22; Lk. 1:17

9. Now, our Father, this land and country is in pandemonium as we speak. There are all kinds of restlessness and chaos in this land. Father, speak rest and settlement to this Land including our families and homes in the name of Jesus – Ezk. 14:12-14; Ps. 119:89.

10. Heaven Father, the best of all rest is to reign with you in eternity; outside this, there is only torment and suffering eternally. Enable me, Oh Lord, to choose the way of resting with you above all things in the name of Jesus – Is. 35:8; Rev. 14:13.

Father, hearken to us as we plead and pray. Though we failed in the past to trust you wholeheartedly and to lean on your unfailing strength, power, promise and might. Forgive us this wrong Oh Lord. We pray you will help us not to return to our vomits in the name of Jesus. Father, behold our families and lives and all that concerns us. Just as it is written in the book of Isaiah that, “From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment. Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers” and Jeremiah seconded him by saying, “Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens. We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows. We have drunken our water for money; our wood is sold unto us. Our necks are under persecution: we labour, and have no rest. We have given the hand to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread. Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities. Servants have ruled over us: there is none that doth deliver us out of their hand.” This is exactly or almost how our cases are presently as we speak. Father, we repent. Forgive us and give us rest from our toils in the name of Jesus. Amen.

RESTING GREETINGS TO US.
Happy Sunday: Rest in the Lord.
