JESUS HEALS

“Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk – John 5:8.”

Today, we shall be going through the account of gospel according to John chapter five. It is recorded thus that there was a pool seasonally stirred by angel where people with diverse diseases or illnesses would go to be healed. They didn’t just gather there because the water was stirred neither did they go because they wanted to see angel. As good and spectacular these sights might be, those were not the objective of all the sick people there.

Ridiculous enough, there could have been people who came just to see the miraculous and wonderful scene where an angel was stirring the water. Others would be there to see the number of people, that is the population of those present. More so, there could have been some who just came for the fun of it but as for those who were really sick, they didn’t come for sightseeing, joke or to pass time. They came for healing. Do you know what you want?

The only valid objective which made people to gather in great number was none of the above. They came for healing. They came to be made whole. Why? It is because it is written that –

“…whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had – Jn. 5:4.”
So, they were there to meet the only condition for their healing – being the first to enter the pool. After the first man was healed, this could mean one thing for the rest – wait for another time. This another season was unknown to anyone because it was described as “at a certain season.” Who might have possibly known when the next certain season would be?

There is good news for us all. Yes, there is good news for you sir and ma. What good news? That you don’t need to wait for another time. The time is now. Jesus Christ is the solution. In the past and even till now, people have been healed through various means and mediums – some spiritual, some physical, some godly, some ungodly, some good, some evil. Whatever the case may be, there is limit to all what is available to be offered by men. The limitations come in various form – in time: it can last for a season but not forever; in location: distance might be a barrier and hindrance nit everyone has what it takes to travel distance to receive healing; money/finance: the monetary obligations can be overwhelming and burdensome. Sadly, there are most conditions that are grievous and unrealistic especially for those who sought healing through diabolical means and methods.

Now, this is the challenge. Due to these limitations, many people in the world have lost hope and assurance of healing. They have given up and are signed up for dejection, rejection and a lifetime of ill-health only waiting for death to come knocking until they are carried to the grave. Such is the case with many people as we speak. Could it be that your case is like that of the impotent man too who was in his illness for thirty-eight years? I am not saying yours is that long. Whatever the duration of that sickness, illness or disease, the truth is, no one is comfortable with sickness. No man in his right mind would delight and have pleasure in being sick.

It is in this hopeless, despondent, discouraged and disappointment situations Jesus’ presence is noticed. One thing He asks of you – “Would you be made whole?” Do you desire or really need healing? Do you want to be made whole without recurrent illness and breakdown in health? Jesus is asking you, are you willing to be healed? One may be asking, why would Jesus ask a man whether he wanted to be healed or not? Sincerely, it is not the matter of asking question or not. According to the scripture and the word of Christ Jesus, we can conclude that many people tarry or remain in their state of sickness, ill-health majorly because they desire to be there. Why? It is because Jesus Christ is going about ready to heal people but if the people are not calling upon Him, if the people are not willing, if the people are not ready, how then would they be made whole? It is written thus –

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: Who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him – Acts. 10:38.”

For instance, multitudes were pressing, pushing and jostling on Jesus but the woman with the issue of blood knew exactly wanted she wanted. Do you?

Zacchaeus was willing to be saved. Blind Bartimaeus was earnest too. Jesus heals, are you willing to be made whole? If yes, put this willingness into action by calling upon His name –

“…whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered… - Joel 2:32.”
