YOUR FIRST LOVE series - MONEY Part III

YOUR FIRST LOVE? – (MONEY III)

Now, glory, honour and might be unto God both now and forever. Amen. Each time we think about the greatness and great deeds of God we are not to overlook them with familiarity or negligence but with awesome and earnest acknowledgement of His Mighty Works wrought through Christ Jesus in Him we have eternal life. We ought to hold firmly the good word of God in high esteem and reverence. With this in place, let us give glory and thanks to God the Father, from whom we have justification by faith, forgiveness of sin, and reconciliation. It is a privilege to call God, Father! Take full advantage of this and let us altogether call, ABBA!

By God’s grace we shall be completing this series soon God willing. Before then, it will be for our own good to search inwardly what our first love is all about. Is our first love about Money? Or has money taken away our first love? Do we really love as we claim? Money is not the root of all evil but it has been the major cause of some people’s actions. Many marry because of it. Some gain affluence and influence through it. Others exercise power due to its availability. Many more prove or appear to be loyal when money is involved. The subject of money has been the major cause of division in friendship, homes and businesses. However, money has also helped some to gain respect and to those kinds of people, indeed, “money is a defence.”

NO MAN CAN SERVE TWO MASTERS: FOR EITHER HE WILL HATE THE ONE, AND LOVE THE OTHER; OR ELSE HE WILL HOLD TO THE ONE, AND DESPISE THE OTHER. YE CANNOT SERVE GOD AND MAMMON – Matthew 6:24.

Most of us want to do many things at the same time but we end up being disappoint if not frustrated. We are trying to combine two incompatibles. Trying to mix two unmixable contents can prove to be time wasting and resources squandering. Mammon in this text is basically money based – god of money. Either we like it or not we are all in love – love of money, love of food, love for sleep, love of materials, love of cars, love of pleasure, love of children, love of spouse, love of sin and love of this and that. When we love what do we really mean by that? Search through and hold that which is true. What is the basis of your love? The challenge is not to love but as to what or who is loved. Many who claim to love God don’t really do so. You would soon discover that, they were only after what He had to offer (what they wanted to receive from God), especially money. Ye cannot serve two masters!

IF THEREFORE YE HAVE NOT BEEN FAITHFUL IN THE UNRIGHTEOUS MAMMON, WHO WILL COMMIT TO YOUR TRUST THE TRUE RICHES? – Luke 16:11.

Many a time, we hear people say or come to conclusion that, “life is not fair.” Please, we need clarity. Which/What life? Life in Christ or What? For Christ is life, and Christ is fair, of a Truth He is the Fairest. Let’s take a look at all we do and see the place of faithfulness in them. In families when money is involved, isn’t it clear that faithfulness is relegated? Between husband and wife, when the issue of money is discussed, there is an atmosphere of rage. Talk about money in business and get part of it tampered with, come see division and strife in full fledge. If we find it hard to be faithful in the matters that have to do with money, how then can we test the proof of our love.

If you are not faithful in the small matters pertaining to this world, if you do not use aright your property and influence, you cannot expect that God will commit to you the true riches of His grace. Men who are dishonest and worldly, and who do not employ the deceitful mammon as they ought, cannot expect to grow in grace. God does not confer grace upon them, and their being unfaithful in earthly matters is evidence that they would be also in much greater affairs and would likewise mis-improve the true riches. TRUE RICHES – The graces of the gospel; the influences of the Spirit; eternal life, or religion. The riches of this world are false, deceitful, not to be trusted; the treasures of heaven are true, faithful, never-failing.

MY LITTLE CHILDREN, LET US NOT LOVE IN WORD, NEITHER IN TONGUE; BUT IN DEED AND IN TRUTH – I John 3:18.

It is not uncommon to hear people say, “you know I don’t joke with my money.” Well, no one ever told us to joke with it either only that we should show our love by giving it not joking with it. So many over the years, the yearnings, the cravings, the hunger and thirst they had for God in the beginning always panting for the Living water declined when little wealth was entrusted on them, little did they know that, “For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them – Proverbs 1:32.” Now, I ask, where is your hunger for righteousness like aforetime? Where is your thirst for sanctification as of the first? Where is your zeal, yearnings and groanings for seeing to the salvation of souls like you were in the beginning? Where are your travails of Christ being formed in you and your groanings of conceiving the mind of Christ just like the time you first knew Him and tested the good of Word of God? I just hope all those have not been taken away by your love of money and love for money. RETURN TO YOUR FIRST LOVE TODAY! JESUS IS CALLING ARE YOU NOT GOING TO YIELD?
