YOUR FIRST LOVE series - TALENTS

YOUR FIRST LOVE? (TALENTS)

How many of us have thought over and over, time and again concerning this statement in the Scripture, "...He gave gifts to men." We can find this in the book of Ephesians. If we haven't, we need to starting thinking over it and thanking God for it. Without fail and any iota of lie, God is gracious and generous and the proof of this is present in all He has blessed us with. Shouldn't we marvel at the administrative coordination of God's plan and agenda? Of a truth, the whole world is left in amazement and wonders. What a Mighty God we serve!

In order to round up this series on time, much explanation won't be used for this particular session. There are some important questions to ask and they demand good answers. Questions like, what are the sources of talents? Why are they given? How do we find out that we have talents? Where to use them? And finally, how to use them? Anyway, some of these questions won't be answered for coverage, time and speedy reasons. But if any one wish to know more about it, we have a Friend in Jesus get closer to Him. Without further ado, let's continue.

AND UNTO ONE HE GAVE FIVE TALENTS, TO ANOTHER TWO, AND TO ANOTHER ONE; TO EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS SEVERAL ABILITY; AND STRAIGHTWAY TOOK HIS JOURNEY - Matthew:25:15.

From the beginning to the very end of the Scriptures, the evidence of talents which God gave to men cannot be overridden, overemphasized or neglected. Starting with the first man (Adam), he was talented in keeping the garden and Naming the names. Sitting down to think that Adam literarily and practically gave names to all animals on earth is enough to keep us wondering how God bestowed gifts upon us. God is wonderful!

In the book of Exodus, when God revealed to Moses the similitude of what he should do after the order of what he was shown on the mountain, some special people were selected and chosen upon whom the spirit of wisdom came. Some were skilled in earth (planting), some in animals (hunting), some in building, others in speech, counsel, war (fight), making equipment and lots more. Peter by laying of hands on people, they received the gifts of Holy Ghost. Simon the sorcerer thrilled and moved to get the power, hence, he opted for money! He nearly incurred a curse. God has never left man without something, or some sort of endowment. Yes, we are without excuses.

Seest thou a man diligent in his business says the Scripture, he shall stand before Kings and not mean men. Most of us we cry out loud unto God to give us more. What have we been able to do or use the "little" (as we have it called) for? Faithfulness in little engenders for promotion and more. God is too faithful to give us what will kill us. If the talent and thirst for more is what will bring about your death, He would rather live it undone.

While some lived on after their death for what they used the talent given to them by God for, others during their lifestyle pine away with their very work coming to an end before them... About these ones it was written, "... trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;" and "But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth." Pleasure has ruined and robbed many of their rightful place in destiny and the Will of God. Forgetfully, they have no need to think upon the talents anymore due to their nonchalant way of life.

God gives talents to all according to our several abilities. That is what makes it unique. Now we strife and fight one another, why? Envy. Envy robbed Cain of his permanent presence with God. For envy sake, Saul The King, had his Kingdom torn apart and given to his neighbour. Envy made Jacob took Esau's blessings. Envy would not allow Herod to submit to the New Born King. All these are as a result of talent.

FOR WHERE ENVYING AND STRIFE IS, THERE IS CONFUSION AND EVERY EVIL WORK - James:3:16.

It is clear that God is not the Author of confusion. Talent has been one of the reasons most have forgotten their first love. They have become ambitious and strong-headed in achieving their selfish goals. We now see that the Prophecy of Jesus is not uncommon, "the love of many is waxing cold if it had not already." Once we see anyone who appears or seems to be better than us in what we do, instead for us to complement, learn, humble ourselves to see what we aren't getting right; No, we wont, we turn to gossips, cheap talks and mockery. These are what make an inconvenient atmosphere of love. These things cannot make love to thrive.

BUT THE MANIFESTATION OF THE SPIRIT IS GIVEN TO EVERY MAN TO PROFIT WITHAL - 1 Corinthians:12:7.

How are we faring in the talent given us by God? Jesus, during His earthly ministry, fulfilled purpose and made sure He used every measure of talent till He said "It is finished!" Paul was poured out like a Sacrifice offered wholeheartedly - Nothing was left and he said, "I have finished the race". Some of the Martyrs, gave up their lives not just for what they believed but also for that which they obtained.

Just be careful lest you're caught and found in the pride of Nebuchadnezzar, for he said, "...Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? - Daniel:4:30". Don't let your talent lead you into being proud whereby you forget your first love.

You remember those years when you felt useless and without worth because you had nothing. But now, you have this and that. By your strength? No, never. That can't be. It must be from God. Use your talent to the glory of God. Use them for people to see your good works and glorify your Father which hath in Heaven. By this, we are telling the world that God is First and no one else.

Enough of Mr. Worldy-Wise ruling the affairs of this world. Sons of God, Arise! How can you prove that your first love has not been forsaken? Use your talent for God. Show thyself approved Unto God!

If you're not profitable, you shall be punishable!

TALENTED GREETINGS TO YOU
