JESUS HAD SAID IT - Part II

JESUS HAD SAID IT – Part II

Blessed be the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, for counting us worthy to be among the remnants to see this day. In whatever state we are, we believe the good Word of God will bring settlement and encouragement and because of this, we need to appreciate the God of covenant who has already said that, “…so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Honestly, if it had not been the Lord on our side, hmmm! Only God knows what would have happened. But His banner over us is love. Bringing us to state of banqueting is not a joke and about us it is fulfilled that, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” What do we have to appreciate God than to offer the first-fruit of our mouth and lips. The Lord delights in us, why shouldn’t we show our delight in and for Him also. The Lord is good!

THESE THINGS I HAVE SPOKEN UNTO YOU, THAT IN ME YE MIGHT HAVE PEACE. IN THE WORLD YE SHALL HAVE TRIBULATION: BUT BE OF GOOD CHEER; I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD – John 16:33

These words are the conclusion of our Saviour's farewell sermon to his disciples, in which He declares to them, the inevitable necessity of the world's trouble:  In the world ye shall have tribulation; that is, while you have to do with the men of the world, while you have any thing to do with the things of the world, nay, while you have a being in the world, you must look for trouble, both from within and from without, from friends and foes, in body, soul, name, estate; heart-breaking troubles, soul-rending troubles, such troubles as will make the heart to break, and the back to bend; and you, my disciples, must expect it as well as others: In the world ye shall have tribulation. He said this longtime ago… hope we have not forgotten?

Hence learn, that the disciples of Christ, in this world, may, yea, must expect and look for trouble. When we say, “look for trouble”, it does not mean doing wrong but means our righteousness would be evil spoken of. Therefore, we observe that:

The remedy provided by Christ against this malady: In Me [Jesus] ye shall have peace: when in the world we have tribulation. We shall have peace: that is, serenity of mind, a quiet and calm temper of spirit within, when the world, like a tempestuous air, is full of storms without. We need to learn thence, that though in the world Christ's own disciples must look for and expect troubles, yet He has taken effectual care, that, amidst all their troubles, in him they may have peace; Christ's blood has purchased peace for them, His word has promised it to them, and His Holy Spirit seals it up to their souls.

The cordial provided by Christ for the support of his disciple's spirits under the sinking burthen of the world's tribulations and troubles: But be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.  I have taken the sting out of every cross, and the venom out of every arrow. Also, we learn that, it is a great comfort to a Christian, under all the troubles of this world, to consider that Christ has overcome the world, that is, all things in the world, which may hinder His people's comfort and consolation here, and their eternal happiness and salvation hereafter; namely, the princes of the world, the rulers of the world, the wicked men of the world, the troubles of the world, the temptations of the world, the corruptions that are in the world through lust. Now Christ having overcome the world, all persons and things in it are at His disposal, and can do nothing but by His permission; and as He has overcome the world himself, so He will enable us through faith in Him to overcome it also.  This is the victory over the world, even our faith. In this we can have assurance in Him and His word which says, “Do not let your hear be troubled, believe God and believe in Me also.”

IF YE WERE OF THE WORLD, THE WORLD WOULD LOVE HIS OWN: BUT BECAUSE YE ARE NOT OF THE WORLD, BUT I HAVE CHOSEN YOU OUT OF THE WORLD, THEREFORE THE WORLD HATETH YOU – John 15:19

On this very account, because you do not join in fellowship with those who know not God, therefore they hate you. Because your maxims, tempers, actions, are quite opposite to theirs.  For the very same reason must the world in all ages hate those who are not of the world. Since this world-spirit hated Jesus, therefore, we need not be surprised to find that the world hated us when manifesting the Spirit of God. If you were actuated by the principles of the world. If, like them, you were vain, earthly, sensual, given to pleasure, wealth, ambition, they would not oppose you. But because you are influenced by different principles from men of the world you are hated. Anyway, you are actuated by the love of God and holiness; they by the love of sin.

Therefore, a Christian may esteem it as one evidence of his piety that he is hated by wicked men. Often most decided evidence is given that a man is the friend of God by the opposition excited against him by the profane, and by the dissolute. This is just to establish, if by any way or form you have been hated, blasphemed, criticized, persecuted, tortured, imprisoned, despised, mocked and scorned with all manners vices for good course, for righteousness sake, for doing good, for the sake of the Word of God and His Kingdom, for your faith in the Lord Jesus, for loving your neighbour as yourself and the Lord God with all your heart that Jesus had already said it that, “Behold, I have told you before.”

INFALLIBILITY GREETINGS TO YOU ALL
