BE INSTANT

 

“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine – 2Timothy 4:2.”

 

The prophet Isaiah said –

“For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth – Isaiah 62:1.”
As for us, let it be for souls’ sake, for righteousness’ sake, for the kingdom’s sake, for God’s Name’s sake. The prophet said he would not hold is peace because of his country until righteousness should begin to flow down like a river. His earnest desire was to see salvation become a burning lamp through which the people are given light to see and walk.

 

Let ours be the same. See what great number of souls perish daily. For their sake, let us be instant in season. See what great multitudes are running headlong into perdition on per second basis and billing! What an earnest call upon us to rush into this harvest until the whole spirit, soul and body of these condemned be redeemed from damnation by the blood of Jesus Christ.

 

Come brethren, think upon the kingdom of our Father and let us quit ourselves like men. Let us set our mind upon the prosperity of His government and of peace and see what energy and strength we must expend for the great work which He has called us to do and to which we have been assigned. Jacob was earnest about his work day and night. And like he said –

“Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes – Gen. 31:40”
, shall we not be wiser also to be occupied with a higher calling than he? If he could do and sacrifice so much for the herd of a man, why shouldn’t we do more for the herd of our own God. Whether it be chilly night with frost, let us by the help of the Spirit go forth to save souls from sin. And if it be consumption of drought and heat by day, we must remember that there is a heat greater than that of the sun awaiting the sinners. Shall we not be counted among the wise servants if we go to pluck out these branches from burning of the fire?

 

A man wanted to go destroy and kill some people, his call and response to his neighbour or friend was –

“…Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot – 2Kgs. 10:16.”
If that could be the case of someone who wanted to kill or destroy and he was zealous about it, how zealously, committedly and persuasively we who are called to save ought to go out concerning the matter of the gospel to all nooks and crannies until the world and the whole earth is filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord and His word as the waters cover the sea. That we would not rest until men be saved. That God should quicken us as not to give sleep to our eyes until we see His kingdom full. Has He not commanded us to go compel men to come until His house be full? Go, we must! And as for the men on the highways, whether they are blind, lame, bad or good, we are charged to bring them. Let's go, please!

 

Our Master, Lord Jesus Christ, was instant in season and out of season; for we have a record of Him that He prayed all night and preached all day – redeeming the time because the days are of evil; the time is short and there should be time no longer.

 

Dearly beloved and partakers of the heavenly calling, as you preach the gospel, please do not throw off the rod of rebuke and correction. Our Lord rebuked some men also. The apostles did. Why? It is because –

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness – 2Tim. 3:16.”
The ignorant must be taught, the busybodies must be shunned, the weak are to be strengthened, the mighty men must be encouraged lest they grow weary. As for the impenitent, let us by the grace of God approach them with the sincere word of God not hiding from them the whole counsel of God as touching sin, righteousness and of judgement. And let God be pleased to His word by using us as instruments unto conversion of souls by the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth - 2Timothy 2:15.”   There are duties expected of man from God to be approved. Before any man would be approved of God, the basic bed rock is faith – faith in Christ Jesus. GOD'S DWELLING PLACE

“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones – Isaiah 57:15.”   Many believe that God dwells in heaven. Well, that is not the whole truth. It is true that God’s throne is in heaven. But you see, throne is just part of a house or dwelling place. The book of Isaiah says – “Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? – Is. 66:1.” So, in this case, heaven is His throne and if we take heaven for throne, throne is not a place to dwell as such.
