PROMOTION OF FOOLS

“Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted - Psalms 107 : 17.”

Who is a fool?

We shall consider different definitions and descriptions given to foolish people. It is not time to be finding faults or blaming anyone. Let every man bear his own yoke. We all must see ourselves in the light of the scripture before making final conclusion about any situation. In the Bible, there are many signs, methods, appearances and forms by which foolishness is expressed. These are what we are going to consider critically today. Let every man consider himself according as it is written to know where he falls.

Now, who is a fool?

A fool is a man who sleeps with his sister or who has intention of doing so – 2Sam. 13:11-13. A fool is anyone who harbour hatred and envy against his neighbour or brother with the intention of killing or harming him or her – 1Sam. 26:21. Are you? He is a person who says in his heart (he does not necessarily have to say it with his mouth) that there is no God – Ps. 14:1. Anyon who hides hatred with lying lips and utters slander – Pro. 10:18. Is that you? The man who rejects or despises instruction (especially those ones from God) – Pro. 15:5. The man or woman who meddles in strife to aggravate it – Pro. 20:3. Are you? The person who returns to his vomit – Pro. 26:11; Gal. 2:18. Anyone who trusts in his own heart, in himself or who is wise in his own conceit – Pro. 28:26. Anyone who speaks too much – Pro. 29:11.

The person who keeps walking in darkness is a fool – Ecc. 2:14. A lazy man is a fool too – Ecc. 4:5. Anyone who gets riches and wealth illegitimately – Jer. 17:11. A fool is a person who puts his trust, hope and confidence in his riches, wealth, possessions and whatever earthly materials one can think of but not God – Lk. 12:20. He is a fool who is always wise in his own eyes – Rom. 1:22. Any man that does not believe or have faith in God and His word – Lk. 24:25. The man or woman who loves to keep the outward clean but the inward is full of dregs and filthiness – Lk. 11:40. Those that seduce and those who are seduced – Is. 19:13. An angry person is a fool. Note this and mark it well. Anger rests in the bosom of fools – Ecc. 7:9. Are you? Those who are always given to much pleasure – they love what they call “soft life” – Ecc. 7:4. Anyone that does not keep to his word is a fool – Ecc. 5:1,4. A sinner is a fool. To bring it home direct, anyone who mocks at sin is a fool. If I love to play with or in sin, I am a fool. If you love to play with or in sin, you are fool – Pro. 14:9. A deceitful man or woman is a fool – Pro. 14:8. The man who forsakes the company of the wise men is a fool – Pro. 13:20. An evil doer and the wicked man is a fool – Pro. 13:19. Anyone who hates knowledge (the knowledge of God) – Pro. 1:22. A transgressor and one who commits iniquities – Ps. 107:17.

A sinner is a fool. A fool is a sinner.

Having known the descriptions, attributes and characteristics of fools, it is necessary to judge and identify where I belong. Where do you belong too? Have we been able to identify one or two areas where we have played the folly? If yes, what is the promotion given to fools. If you be fool or if I be, what is the promotion? The scripture is clear on this matter. There basically two to three promotions of fools. First is shame. Shame is the first promotion of fools – “The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools – Pro. 3:35” and “Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) – Php. 3:19.” The second promotion of fools is destruction – “For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them – Pro. 1:32.” The third promotion of all fools is death – “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death – Rev. 21:9.” Why? It is because a fool is a sinner. A sinner is a fool.

The way out of folly and all that pertains to foolishness is Jesus Christ. He is The Power of God and The Wisdom of God. every man that must escape foolishness must come to Jesus Christ to learn wisdom. This is the reason Christ Jesus called saying – “Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me… - Matt. 11:29.” Let us all come to Jesus Christ today, He will save, deliver and redeem us from folly. And having done that, we have a charge not to return to our folly anymore – “I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly – Ps. 85:8.” There is a charge for us today and henceforth: Don't be a fool. Be wise. God gives wisdom by Christ Jesus only.
