THOU CHRISTIAN

“And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me – Daniel 10:19.”

Christians are children of God. They are commonly called Christ-like. This name is a weighty name. It is not encouraging when you here people ask are you are Christian? I mean born-again child of God? As if the name Christian is not enough or born again is not enough or child of God is not enough. Some would even say a genuine Christian. We can not really blame the world for asking such preposterous question. Isn’t it? It is because many are just Christian by name and not character. Millions or billions of people in the world who claim to be Christians are so by official or political way of affiliating to one religion or the other. Are you a Christian? Not by church or any denominational mode of conduct and worship. Are you a Christian? This topic might be a controversial one in sense that the text is taken from Old Testament and most people believe that Christians are not in the Old Testament. Says who? Christians are all over the scriptures from the Old to the New. He who does not see Christ in the Old Testament cannot identify Him in the New. Therefore, there were men in the Bible who lived as Christians

In the text above, Daniel was one man to be called a Christian. The devout life of dedication, commitment, obedience, selflessness, of truth, faith, courage and wisdom of the word of God are all traits and attributes speaking about the legacy lived by the man called Christian. For every Christian, on his way to celestial journey, shall meet with obstinate and pliable people. These are stationed to make him waver or change his mind from following the course of his Master, Christ Jesus. He shall meet with trials and temptations on the way –

“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution – 2Tim. 3:12.”

He was a man greatly beloved. Beloved of Who? Beloved of God and of His Christ, of His angels and the people of the household of faith. It is required that a Christian be faithful – faithful to the course of his Master, to the kingdom of his God and to the goodwill of the brethren.

As a Christian, one is expected to endure hardness and to count it all joy when diverse temptations come. Thou Christian, preach the gospel to both old and young. Let all men known that the will of the Father is for men to be saved and that none should perish. Go forth to heal the sick bearing in mind that all men will not always love you. In fact, you shall be hated of all men for so they did to your Master. However, that should not stop you from carrying out the will and command of your Lord.

Oh Christian, fight the good fight of faith. Contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saint. Hold unto your faith in Christ Jesus to the end. When Christ shall come as He had asked that shall He find faith on the earth, be among those with whom faith is kept and found. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God. Always remember that this world is a place where pollution and defilement are commonplace. The god of this world has blinded the mind of them that believe not. Strive by the power of God to be a light and to open the eyes of the blind to the glorious gospel of Christ Jesus.

Come, O Christian be thou a good example of a believer in conversation and purity. Flee youthful lusts and other works of the flesh warring in the members of those who are aged. Follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience and meekness.

Strive to enter in through the narrow way and the strait gate. He that endureth to the end shall be saved and to him that overcometh shall reign with the Lord forever. Be thou a Christian.

O, I beseech you let not your case be like that of Agrippa who said – “…Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian – Acts. 26:28.” Almost persuaded is not a Christian. Almost saved is lost. Almost a believer is damned. Do well to be a Christian in deeds and words. Represent the course and cause of your Master, Christ Jesus today. If you are not a Christian, there is no hope for thee in this world and in the world to come eternal damnation awaits you. Come to Jesus today and be numbered about the greatly beloved.
