WHEN SPEED MATTERS

"I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments - Psalms 119 : 60."

Everything creates by God has its own pace and order. To every creature is given the means and ability enhancing movement. This movement cuts across all areas of life such as growth, digestion, breath (respiration), reproduction etc. That's concerning the health. When issues of life such as success, failure, promotion, demotion, life and death are put into consideration, the rate at which movement takes place cannot be overlooked. This is what we refer to as speed. The rate at which movement takes place cam be referred to as speed.

All things whether small or great, in heaven or on Earth have speed. The speed in doing good or evil, speed to obey God or disobey Him. Speed to follow the devil or execute his purpose. The question is to whom have we been given our speed and on what are we expending our swift response?

As for the man in our text today, his own speed is to keep the commandments of God. He just must not hear about God's law, immediately he is found doing it. When he heard about the will and mind of God over any matter, he was quick to getting it done. Such people are whom God loves to reveal His agenda on the earth and heaven to. Their slogan is THY WILL BE DONE.

Today, the word of God to us is this, speed matters when doing and obeying the commandments, laws, words and precepts of God is involved. It was David who told the priest that "And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste - 1 Samuel 21 : 8."

Oh friends, the business of our King of kings requires haste. The assignment He has committed into our hands such as witnessing and preaching to all creatures requires haste. We cannot afford to be sluggish about it.

When Philip was in Samaria, the angel of the Lord instructed him to go to the wilderness. Immediately, he went and met an eunuch from Ethiopia. This eunuch got saved that day and time. If he had delayed, that soul could be lost. After that, he was led to Azotus. These are men speedily doing the will of God.

Come, let us tell an instance of a man who did the will of God but not speedily. A day came when the Lord called me into his banquet. They heard, some went to their merchandise and others have excuses. Finally, the Lord commanded His stewards to go to the highways to bring in the halt, maimed, blind and the lame so that the place would be full. Finally, at a later time, there was found a man among those who were called first. When the Master saw him, among many reasons for casting him out, lateness was reason. Yes, he didn't have the marriage robe on but he would have been given if he had come earlier -

"And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth - Matthew 22 : 11-13."

In conclusion, on what do you apply speed? On whose command do you obey speedily. Judge ye if it be right in the sight of God to speedily obey the devil more than God.
