ALL OTHER gods

Blessed be the Name of The Lord for His manifold many faceted and multi-dimensional love, grace and peace multiplied unto us, for we cannot deny that the grace of God which brings salvation has appeared to us all. Hallelujah! We serve a living God and so we have the life of God present in us and it is not heresy when we say indeed we are living souls. Praise God! And if we are glad and confident of this it is good that we praise the Lord. Well, let living souls shout, Hallelujah! What is that things that does not merit the thanks to God – we must, as it is more than obligation for us to, praise God. A new day, a new life, a new joy, new mercies, new compassion, new forgiveness, new healing, new provision, new direction, new guidance – always new every morning great is God’s faithfulness. Thank God for a new day with privileges of assurance of being His son!

…CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY WHOM YE WILL SERVE; WHETHER THE GODS WHICH YOUR FATHERS SERVED THAT WERE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FLOOD, OR THE GODS OF THE AMORITES… - Joshua 24:15

You see that’s true. There are many, if not countless numbers of gods believed on in the world. Spanning from the Mesopotamia to the ancient medo-persian all through to the Roman empires ruled by the emperors and the Grecians from one continent to another, from one nation and tribe to another, they vary in sizes and genders, colours and races, beliefs and mode of worships. Some are called goddesses while others are referred to as gods. Names were given unto them by their worshippers probably due to what they perceived they did which are but ephemerals and transient. The list goes on to be god of strength, goddess of love, god of beauty, god of money, goddess of pleasure, god of power, goddess of lust, god of sun, goddess of moon. Some of these gods are names after what we now call planets – mercury, mars, venus, neptune, jupiter, and others.

THE SMITH WITH THE TONGS BOTH WORKETH IN THE COALS, AND FASHIONETH IT WITH HAMMERS, AND WORKETH IT WITH THE STRENGTH OF HIS ARMS: YEA, HE IS HUNGRY, AND HIS STRENGTH FAILETH: HE DRINKETH NO WATER, AND IS FAINT – Isaiah 44:12

Some are made by carpenters, “So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved”, others by goldsmith or blacksmith using various kinds of instrument such as hammer among others. Some made of wood, other of clay, iron, brass, and silver… “The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.” From one generation to another the number of these gods keep on increasing and if care is not taken many things will be idolized without knowing. Just like in the land of Babylon when the King made an image to be worshipped, many in our present world are worshipping graven images inscribed in their hearts and they find enough reasons to justify their actions. Haven’t they heard? That what, some said.

THEIR SORROWS SHALL BE MULTIPLIED THAT HASTEN AFTER ANOTHER god: THEIR DRINK OFFERINGS OF BLOOD WILL I NOT OFFER, NOR TAKE UP THEIR NAMES INTO MY LIPS – Psalms 16:4.

This is not to scare us or to make us afraid and dismay. Not at all. It is the Truth and truth remains the Truth no matter how inconvenient it is to us. For those who are worshipping other gods which are the works of men, there is nothing to gain but sorrow multiplied instead of peace. This is in direct opposite to or with the prayer of Apostle Peter in his first epistle the first chapter of it and the second verse to everyone which says, “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.” When many are having peace being multiplied continually for them in the Only and Holy True God and Jesus whom He hath sent, they that worship other gods have their sorrows multiplied instead.

Please, let us note this that the physical effect of God is as spiritual also. It is not until we have a graven image in the corner of our houses or room that we acknowledge that we serve or worship other gods. That’s too shallow and deceptive! Anything that takes the place of GOD in you is counted as other gods. Again, I repeat, ANYTHING! Anything is relative from one person to another, but the truth still remains that anything that you allow to displace that which is meant for God in you is subject to be taken as another. And ANOTHER can also mean ANYTHING!

THEY THAT MAKE THEM ARE LIKE UNTO THEM; SO IS EVERY ONE THAT TRUSTETH IN THEM – Psalms 115:8

One thing is clear about the worshippers of all other gods, they are always like their gods. In the hundred and fifteenth chapter of the book of Psalms, the descriptions about these gods are given. Having eyes and seeing not. You know that’s true! No wonder Apostle Paul said in verse three of the fourth chapter of his second epistle to the Corinthians that, “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not…” These gods, they have mouth yet they cannot speak. They that serve them don’t have voice. And if they try to speak, they are never heard. They have ears but cannot hear. What! How could that be! Yes, it’s true. Elijah mocked the worshippers of baal the same way, for he told them, “And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked – I Kings 18:27.” Hands and legs, have they but they cannot move. As for those who serve the Lord God Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ, His hands and ears are not short and heavy that He cannot save and hear respectively. What a Living God we serve! Those who serve a dead god are as equally dead – for they that serve them are like them.

Over the years it is clear we were told that other gods don’t have anything to offer us, but of a truth I tell you today they have things to offer. The god of gold will give you gold and nothing more but your life will be taken in return. The god of lust, beauty and sex will give you pleasure but takes your life in return. The god of riches too will give wealth and takes life in return. You see they have things to offer. This must have been one of the reasons Jesus said, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? – Mark 8:36.” But let me tell you, maybe you don’t seem to know what you need. What you need is Eternal life! But you try to seek for it through gold, lust, pleasure, riches and many more, thinking you will have it because other gods promised to do so. Without mincing words, that same Eternal Life is what they want in exchange of what you receive from them. None among other gods can give you want you really need, they have something to offer though. And I am sure you know this. You need Eternal life. They don’t have it!

…I ASCEND UNTO MY FATHER, AND YOUR FATHER; AND TO MY GOD, AND YOUR GOD – John 20:17.

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent – John 17:3. Hallelujah! We are redeemed by the blood of Jesus from the curse of law and death. That we may have life in abundant. And this is sure that Christ came into the world to save sinners. Therefore, for as many that serve all other gods being the works of men, We beseech you, cease from doing evil and hurting yourself. “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.” Through Him we have hope – a lively one as such because we are not redeemed of the corruptible but of the incorruptible. This is a call unto us all that all other gods are No God at all. All ways do not lead to God only one way leads to Him and the Way is Jesus the Son of God and through Him we can call God Father! A name you dare not call other gods. Repent from following other gods today and come to THE ONLY AND HOLY GOD through Jesus Christ. Praise God!
