A CHARGE TO PRAY

 A Charge to pray

“Brethren, pray for us – 1Thessalonians 5:25.”

Prayer is the need of the hour. Men ought always to pray, says our Lord Jesus, and not to faint. We are charged this day to pray for one another. Brothers, pray! Sisters, remember each other in prayer too. Fathers, forget not your household when you pray. Would God that mothers are compassionate indeed and not to forget their children which they give suck to in prayers.

Masters pray for your subordinates. Employees, do well to bring up the names of your employers to the throne of grace as often as you frequent the arena for God’s mercy. Oh, again, let everyone remember the words of our Lord Jesus Christ in praying for our enemies.

Pray that diseases will depart from our land. Pray for healing. That there shall no longer be news of increase in infant mortality rate. Pray that the hold and grip of sickness upon the flesh of men be broken and loosed. Do not forget to bring the state of the nation to the Lord in prayers. Remember the leaders, policy makers and executives to uphold the law and order in righteousness, peace, equity and justice. Pray that the truth would not longer be slain upon our streets.

Oh that we shall pray for our youths everywhere that God will renew their strength. Oh, that godliness will be the order of the day as touching the lifestyles and desire of the young men and women. Beware of covetousness. We must pray God to restore, reinstate and reestablish the spirit of contentment and patience into the heart of the youths.

We must not overlook the elders too. As we make mention of their names to God for long-life and good health, it is necessary we pray that they be preserved in righteousness. That their hoary hairs be found in the path of righteousness so as to continue to be a crown of glory over them – Pro. 16:31.

Let hands and voices be lifted up unto God in prayers for kings, rulers and men in authorities to lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty – 1Tim. 2:2.

Let the Cains pray for Abels and the latter do the same to the former, who knows whether the rate of murder will reduce. May the Sauls be filled with repentance to pray for the Davids instead of seeking to take life. Oh, that the Davids will pray for the Sauls until they are plucked like a branch out of fire.

O Jacobs, pray for the Simeons and Levis. They are your seeds still. Do not curse them. It is the beginning of curse that is known people don’t often know its end or duration. Ten generations may not recover from it. The Pauls please pray for the Demases. Yes, they have loved this present world and have gone to Thessalonica but the prayers of a righteous man availeth much. Isn't it? They can be restored. Yes, backsliders can be restored into the Kingdom of God.

Oh that Christ Jesus would pour upon us the Spirit of grace and supplications so that we will pray for our Peters who would in turn strengthen the brethren. May the contention between our Barnabas and Paul cease so that the advancement of the kingdom of God will be on the increase and multiply.

Husband, pray for your wife as Christ to the church. And unto the children may the spirit of disobedience be far from them. Children, pray for your parents too for God loves to have and hear the children and so shall their petition be heard before Him.

May all our Gideons be stronger in might and our Philips will not lose touch with the Holy Spirit. Let the Agabus receive precision and sharper revelation from God to warn the Pauls and not just that to also pray. May our Philips be filled with grace, faith and Spirit again to raise daughters who are virgins - whose virginity would be honourably preserved. Oh, that the wickedness of the wicked will come to an end.

Please, remember the sinners in your prayers. You know there is one close to you – a brother or sister, young or old. Pray that God deliver them from the grip and strength of sin and law. Pray that the prodigals and squanderers return home to God of their salvation.

Pray that the Spirit of God be poured upon us earnestly, fervently and gloriously. Pray that the Kingdom of God comes and His will be done.

Pray for all men. Pray everywhere. Pray always! Pray. Please pray. Pray for me also.
