JESUS IS COMING
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance – 2Peter 3:9.”
Pharoah didn’t know that Moses would one day return to Egypt
until the last plague brought the whole nation bowing and acknowledging that
God is God over all the gods of Egypt. The Sauls already concluded in their
heart that the Samuels weren’t going to make it to the place at the time of
sacrifice. So, they forced themselves to the sacrifice bringing about the
tearing away of the kingdom from their hands. This has been the issue with men
– time.
There is this text in the scripture which many unlearned men have wrestled with and used to their own hurt. It is in the book of Proverbs –
“Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. – Pro. 13:12.”This also is a function of time. Hope does not make ashamed said the apostle – “And hope maketh not ashamed… – Rom. 5:5.” It is due to the timing, early or late, that has made men to be slack and grow weary in their earnestness in pursuit and determination to following God and obeying His word.
So it is with the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Is He your Lord? If He is not, then it is not necessary to use the pronoun “our.” I’d rather use, my Lord Jesus Christ. It’s been over two thousand years since He ascended and set in the right hand of God. He left us with His promise –
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also – Jn. 14:3.”He said He would come back. The angels also testified –
“…Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven – Acts. 1:11.”
The first time Jesus Christ came bodily, He came to prepare us for the Kingdom. When He went away, He went to prepare a Kingdom for those He had prepared. He is not a liar. He said He would come back. And the truth is that –
“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away – Lk. 21:33.”
I am like the voice of one bringing to your remembrance once
again that Jesus Christ is coming again. Definitely, He is coming again. He had
given His word. He is committed to fulfilling it. The apostle Peter had to
remind the people in his days about the coming of the Lord that He is not
slack. The same is applicable to us. For the fact that the Lord is yet to
return does not mean He is not going to come. Listen to this and may the Lord
give you understanding.
Instead of concluding and making all sorts of irrational
decisions about His coming, there is a question we need to ask one another. The
question is, for the sole reason that it is taking Him this long to return,
what could be the cause? Ask this question and it is my prayer that the Holy Spirit
will brood upon this word.
We know God created the whole heaven and earth in six days.
We know that the Lord Jesus Christ is co-equal with the Father in power also.
So, that it has taken Him over two thousand years to return because He is
preparing a place, how beautiful will the place He had gone to prepare shall
be! It is not a place to miss. I beg of you, please.
The second point to this is that, the cup of our Amorites has not yet been filled. That is the reason the judgement isn’t coming now. It will definitely come. So, it is the time and door of repentance He is opening unto us. This is for us to return to God in humility, patience and total surrender. Again, Jesus is coming. His tarrying is for us to repent and be among the elects. Are you in the number? If you are not fit for His kingdom or to be among His elects, definitely and most assuredly you shall be fit for fire – for the burning –
“..but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire – Matt. 3:12.”
