LIMITATIONS OF WEALTH


 

“None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him – Psalms 49:7.”

 

It is believed by many, especially when it has biblical support, that money answereth all things, that there is nothing wealth cannot be used to do. It seems people now see wealth as the Alpha and Omega. When you observe the way and manner men now parade themselves about getting wealth, riches, material possession and monetary endowment, you must believe that the faith people have in money is more than faith in God.

 

Today, it is the will of God to show us that everything in heaven, on earth, under the earth has limitations except God. All things are limited but God. your father has limitations likewise your mothers. Listen to this, you are limited also. You aren’t the Alpha and Omega. There is limit to what man can, will, shall do. All men have their limits.

 

As it is with men, so it is with things. All things are within the scope of limitation. Every project has its limitation and weakness. If you don’t mind, even heavens are limited. Yes, many people believe heaven is limitless. Hello, don’t be deceived. If heaven is not limited, there wouldn’t be need for God to create a New Heaven and a New Earth.

 

Now, this is what God has for us about wealth and money. Let every man have this within his mind that wealth has limitations. This is the reason we shall be stating two points about the limitations of wealth.

 

First, wealth cannot give salvation. It cannot redeem a sinner from perishing. Money and wealth cannot worth the blood of Jesus Christ to save a man from sin. Wealth cannot save a sinner. If you are told wealth can save a man from sin and all the bondages of the enemy, you are deceived. As God rules and reigns, there is no record of any man who is admitted into His family on the basis of wealth. We are not saying God uses the level of wealth as criterion to deliver men from sin. Rightly said the apostle Peter about the man who came to buy the gift of God with money. Thy money perishes with thee, said the no-nonsense apostle. Even Nicodemus was not admitted into the family of God because He was an elite.

 

Second, it is true that we have heard and seen cases where people who are convicted of sin and atrocities bribed their way out of punishment or death. Hearken to the truth now, if you are among those who are calling falsehood truth and you turn truth to falsehood, be warned. Better to repent else the judgment of God lies at your door. It is the call of the Lord unto you that wealth cannot deliver you from death –

“There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death… - Ecc. 8:8.”

 

The third point for us today is, wealth cannot give you life – life spiritual, life physical. This is not within the scope and capability of wealth to deliver. Those who trust in their wealth and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches must know that none can redeem the soul of his brother and none can give God a ransom for him. It is written that

“For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it – Ecc. 7:12.”
This shows us that wealth cannot give life. Jesus also told us about the validity of His word when He said losing a soul is worse than gaining the whole world. This tells us that the whole world cannot buy a soul. A soul lost cannot be regained by wealth. Now we ask you sir, we ask you ma, what do you stand to gain when you lose your soul? Nothing. Not even your wealth can restore or make you to regain it.

 

Jesus Christ can do for you what wealth cannot do. He is not limited.
