NO HIDING PLACE
“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do – Hebrews 4:13.”
There is nothing new under the sun, said the writer of the
book of Ecclesiastes. He didn’t tell us beyond or above the sun though. Anyway,
whether we know what is above the sun or not, that is a question for another
day. The certain question and answer to this is inscribed without doubt in this
wise – there is no hiding place from God. There is no place any man can hide
himself thinking or believing he is out of the reach or sight of God.
David confirmed this by asking –
“Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from THY presence? If I ascend up into heaven, THOU art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, THOU art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall THY hand lead me, and THY right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from THEE; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to THEE – Psalms 139-7-12.”
Let the Cains be warned now before it is too late for them,
that no one can travel far or dpeart as it were out of God’s reach to where
such a man would be out of teh sight of God, though they would go to the land
of Nod. None! Yes, the prodigal son could have thought that the father could
not reach him yet when the time of his impoverishment seized him, his heart
yarned for his father. You cannot hide from God. None of us can. We can not
hide that situation, intention, ambition, thought, desire and other things with
which we are obsessed from God.
True, we can hide away our intentions and purposes away from
men by using words to cover up. It is with this generation as we speak that
what proceeds from the mouth is different from what the heart is cooking. We
can lie to one another. We do things that shouldn’t be done and say things that
are unlawful for the mouth to speak. Listen, we cannot hide from God.
Ye whoremongers, adulterers, effeminate and abuser of themselves with mankind and womankind – you cannot hide from God. Robbers, liars, the proud, wicked and the self-conceited man – we cannot hide it from God. Whether our works be good or evil, they are open before God. God’s eyes aren’t blind to se –
“He that formeth the eyes shall He not see?”
Today is the day the Lord has made for us to examine
ourselves whether we be in the faith. Examine yourself too sir. Let the Holy
Spirit help you to do the searching. What are you hiding from Godi? This word
is coming to you as caution. Beware! Everything is open before God including
your heart.
When David killed Uriah and also took his wife, he thought no man saw him or knew it. True, he was right. No man saw him. But God did see him. Yes, God saw him. When Ahab killed Naboth and took the vineyard forcefully, God saw him. It appeared in using Elijah to expose him. Ahab said and acknowledged -
"...Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? - 1Kgs. 21:20."The answer of Elijah is God's to us this day -
"I have found thee."When Ananias and Sapphira took back part of the money, the Lord saw them. When Joseph was under the luring of Potiphar’s wife, by the help of God, he escaped the trap because He was fully aware that God was watching. God is seeing both the Josephs and the whoring wives.
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good - Pro. 15:3.
Let us always remember the words of Christ that –
“...and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly – Matt. 6:4.”You are the one calling it secret, to God, it is not secret because –
“For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad – Mk. 4:22.”
Therefore, we must come plainly unto God now, nothing doubting and with nothing to hide. We must confess our faults to Him now simply. Whether we confess or not He already knows. We will only be deceiving ourselves if we do not come before Him acknowledging our sins and praying for His mercy to be sustained. The Psalmist prayed it well –
“…cleanse thou me from secret faults – Ps. 19:12.”
Man of God, you are running away from where God sent you. From whom are you hiding – God or man? Like Jonah you are planning to board your boat unto Tarshish. Better pray for grace to obey before the miracle of the storms, wind and fish be your lot also. Yong man, you are charged with the word of God, though a child, be like Jeremiah. Declare unto the house of Israel their sins and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem their iniquities. Don’t hide the message God has given you from the people lest you become an unprofitable watchman causing undiscerning souls to perish. Don’t let it be said of you that –
“…if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out – Lk. 19:40.”
A day is coming. It is fast approaching. It is called the day of the vengeance of the Lord. It is also called the day of judgement. It is also known as the Day of Reckoning. How shall you fare when the day comes? The may event on that day is to validate the topic today that there is no hiding place –
“In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel – Rom. 2:16.”O Jerusalemn, what shalt thou do on the day of thy visitation?
