IT IS LEFT FOR YOU


“If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it – Proverbs 9:12.”

 

It was apostle Paul who asked

“…Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?... – Acts. 19:2.”
Now, the question we are asking you is, what have you done with the Holy Spirit since you believed? Or better still, what has the Holy Spirit done with you or used you to do since you believed? We know it is God that worketh in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure but as for you, what good pleasure and will has the Lord been able to execute or carry out through you sir and ma? What?

 

Again, the word of God unto us this day is

“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? – Micah 6:8.”
Beloved and heirs of God, having received the Holy Spirit, in what measure have you been doing good? See, Christ Jesus’ goodness was not just like that. It spurred out of the anointing of the Holy Ghost. We have that “How God anointed Jesus Christ of Nazareth with Holy Ghost and power, Who went about doing good…” Let’s pause here for a while. The anointing of the Holy Ghost upon the Lord Jesus Christ drove Him about to do good. And now, in the book of Micah, Christian, you are told what God required from thee having received the Holy Ghost since you believed that it is for you to do good. Have you? The doing good is left for you now sir.

 

Again, have you been just and merciful? Have you? The Holy Spirit is indeed willing to carryout this goodness. Are you? In the scripture, Jesus said “The Spirit indeed is willing….” So, now it left for you. Are you willing also? Let it not be that your act of unwillingness is limiting the power God determined to release.

 

How humble have you been since you believed sir? Since the Holy Spirit came upon you sir and ma, in what measure and to what extent has your humility grown? Ha! If it is true that this is not in you, do not be deceived sir, the mind and spirit of Christ is not in you too sir. The spirit you called “Holy Spirit” must then be checked and properly examined if you are not humble lest you are deceived and shipwreck your faith. Why? This is because if any man has not the spirit of Christ, he is none of His.

 

Now, to the text of today. The writer of the book of the book of Proverbs through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit has given us the mind of God to all believers that having received the Spirit of God, it is left to us what we become by, of, with and in Him (The Spirit of God). Now, hear the counsel of God to you, O Christian. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself but if you scorn, you shall bear it alone. Bear what now? The reproach, retribution and the consequences of scorning the word and the wisdom of God.

 

We have a lot of benefits to receive from the Lord if we receive His counsel which is our own wisdom. And in this case, His counsel often and mostly comes to us through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. to be wise in this case means to obey all He tells us to do. As many that will accept the word of the Father revealed to us by His Spirit shall have rewards and benefits unmatched in this world and in the world to come. But for those who say, “the commandments of God are grievous and that His ways are not equal”, they shall have shame enough. O wretched sinner and impenitent, how long shall you err and walk in haughtiness? How long will you reject the wisdom of God? it is for your own good if you believe in Christ Jesus today and now. But if you scorn, be sure that you shall be left alone. A child left to himself shall bring his mother to shame. Not just that, he shall bring shame upon himself too.
