REVIVED

“After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight – Hosea 6:2.”

To revive is to bring back to life; to restore life, essence, purpose, assurance to the state of the former especially when the former was in a good and acceptable working condition. We all had been like sheep without Shepherd in time past. We have worked contrary to the will, goal, mission, mind, purpose and the word of God. it was just normal for us to kick against His precept, principle, purpose and prophecies. We didn’t want to be numbered among or counted to be with those who associated themselves with God. For this reason, many among us became sick, many more are in the bondage and captivity of the wicked on and millions or billions are died.

Due to our disobedient behaviour and obstinate character, sin became the norm and works of wickedness sprouted up as branches and offshoots. The results are what we see around us – death, famine, war, battles, insecurity, covetousness, pride, idolatry, wicked devices and negative inconceivable atrocities and many more. The throne meant for the Almighty Father has been polluted and the sacredness of holy things have been profaned.

Lie is honoured and truth is trampled under the foot. The proud man is called the good and honourable man. No wonder, there are plagues, diseases and sicknesses in the land. From the sole of the foot to the hairs on the head, there is no soundness, said the prophet. Why is it that the wound of and in our nations and families hasn’t been healed? Why is it that the effects of unjust measures and unrighteous scales haven’t been taken away? Why is it that the kingdom of darkness is ruling in the affairs of most people?

It is not farfetched. The Lord God Almighty has been dishonoured. He has been counted for a vessel wherein there is no treasure and pleasure. Therefore, He has risen to tear and to pull down, to destroy and to uproot. As a Mighty Terrible Man, He will tear down and no man can deliver from His hand. Who shall deliver us from this Great, Mighty, Terrible, Fearful God? Sinai and Lebanon are not enough to burn. The heaven cannot contain His indignation and the earth cannot bear His wrath. Who shall see His judgement and live? Who among the mortals can stand His judgement? Who among us shall dwell with the Devouring Fire? Who among us shall dwell with the everlasting burnings? – Is. 33:14.

We see how bad the state of things has been. It is a call for revival. As with every revival, there is timing. No revival was ever done out of time. It was always right on time. Our disposition to this is to return to the One we have wronged and offended. Our work or duty is to come unto the Holy One of Israel. Before revival comes, what must we do? We must return to our God. Whatever the cause and what our lot might be, it is the first step to take – return unto the Lord. Yes, He has torn us but He will heal us. He has beaten us yet He will bind our wound.

The process of revival takes time. Revival does not break out immediately. So, it is written in this case that after two days He will revive us. When we sinned against God, it was in the determinate counsel of God to save us but there was need to do it with and in time. So, we have that –

“For when we were yet without strength, in due time, Christ died for the ungodly – Rom. 5:6.”

Now, this is the reason Christ Jesus came into the world - to revive us. To revive the deadness in our soul and the numbness in our spirit; to revive the dry bones back to God as a living and mighty army. That the nations of the world may know that God rules in the affairs of men. He has come to revive a holy people unto God. Through, by and with Him [Christ Jesus] we have this revival. Anyone that does not have Him, does not and cannot have revival. He or she is dead while alive.

Brethren, I know you have need of revival. But wait, it will not happen suddenly and it will not just take place at once. But there is one thing that must be done first – COME! THE COMING UNTO THE LORD MUST PRECEED REVIVAL. Return to God and definitely He will return to revive you; to revive into fellowship, obedience, service and into eternal life as you put your faith in Christ Jesus. But if you will not return but behave contrary, behold the Lord will be contrary to you also and be sure you cannot bear or withstand His recompence.
