PROMOTION OF FOOLS

Image
“Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted - Psalms 107 : 17.”   Who is a fool?   We shall consider different definitions and descriptions given to foolish people. It is not time to be finding faults or blaming anyone. Let every man bear his own yoke. We all must see ourselves in the light of the scripture before making final conclusion about any situation. In the Bible, there are many signs, methods, appearances and forms by which foolishness is expressed. These are what we are going to consider critically today. Let every man consider himself according as it is written to know where he falls.   Now, who is a fool?   A fool is a man who sleeps with his sister or who has intention of doing so – 2Sam. 13:11-13. A fool is anyone who harbour hatred and envy against his neighbour or brother with the intention of killing or harming him or her – 1Sam. 26:21. Are you? He is a person who says in his heart (he do...

WHEN SPEED MATTERS

Image
"I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments - Psalms 119 : 60."   Everything creates by God has its own pace and order. To every creature is given the means and ability enhancing movement. This movement cuts across all areas of life such as growth, digestion, breath (respiration), reproduction etc. That's concerning the health. When issues of life such as success, failure, promotion, demotion, life and death are put into consideration, the rate at which movement takes place cannot be overlooked. This is what we refer to as speed. The rate at which movement takes place cam be referred to as speed.   All things whether small or great, in heaven or on Earth have speed. The speed in doing good or evil, speed to obey God or disobey Him. Speed to follow the devil or execute his purpose. The question is to whom have we been given our speed and on what are we expending our swift response?   As for the man in our text today, his own speed is to keep the commandments of...

DIRECTED BY MONEY

Image
“But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD – Jonah 1:2.”   Everyone is familiar with money. No one can say he or she does not know what money is. Oh, that the kingdom of God would be this popular and known and even more. Money has been a means of exchange, the medium of purchase or its power, the currency used in the market to get possession. Truly, the subject of money is discussed more in the bible only second to the Kingdom of God. but as we speak, money has even taken over that spot in the heart of many men in the world.   From the beginning, the matter of money wasn’t on the top of the list but after certain period of time we see that even Abraham had to purchase a burying place with money. In the time of famine, people came to Egypt to buy foods with mon...

MAN'S HELPLESSNESS

Image
“And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress? – 2Kings 6:27.”   There are many instances and references in the scripture that are drawing our attention to know the frailty and weakness in man. The text above seems to be one of them. Men, on the surface level, love to show off as the “all-sufficient.” In his form, man would always like to be like the Laodicean Church who said – “…I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing… - Rev. 3:17.” You must have been hearing slogans and statements like “Do It Yourself,” “Empower yourself,” “Self Sufficiency,” “Financial Independent,” “Financial Freedom” and so on. Haven’t you? Most of these agendas are targeted towards enthroning one candidate in man called “self.” The medium through which this candidate gains expression or expresses itself is called flesh. Man, O man.   Come, people chosen from the foundation of the world to hear the ...

PROSPEROUS CITY

Image
“Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem – Zechariah 1:17.”   Prosperity is the song the world sings in this age. The countries round about us are flaunting their “what they call” riches. We have nations to which the title of “world power” is attributed. You know why? It is majorly because of economic factors. When you begin to rate the GDP, GNP and standard of living of these nations, one would begin to think them to be prosperous.   Ha! Come let us look into their streets and see how prosperous they are. See how their young men and teens are being slain by drugs and other forms of hard and soft substances. The old aren’t too much into drug but they are full of covetousness and eyes of lusts which cannot be satisfied. Their young ladies are daughters of whoredom and offspring of immoralities. Yet these nations are seen to be prospe...

BE INSTANT

Image
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine – 2Timothy 4:2.”   The prophet Isaiah said – “For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth – Isaiah 62:1.” As for us, let it be for souls’ sake, for righteousness’ sake, for the kingdom’s sake, for God’s Name’s sake. The prophet said he would not hold is peace because of his country until righteousness should begin to flow down like a river. His earnest desire was to see salvation become a burning lamp through which the people are given light to see and walk.   Let ours be the same. See what great number of souls perish daily. For their sake, let us be instant in season. See what great multitudes are running headlong into perdition on per second basis and billing! What an earnest call upon us to rush into t...

BE KIND

“And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise – Luke 10:37.”   The heart and nature of the humankind, right from the time he disobeyed God, has been plagued with wickedness, violence and evil imagination. Words like pity, compassion, love, care, unity and peace are not within his radar. Why would Cain kill Abel or what could have generated into the slavery of Joseph? The summary of this is given as a question – “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? – Jer. 17:9.”   Do you know or have you asked what could have been the purpose God gave His law to Noah, unto Moses and as many that were called are going to be called by Him? Well, if we do not understand or know the whole purpose, counsel or reason behind His decision of giving such commandments, there is one reason we are to be certain and sure of, that is, to be kind to one another.   Beginning with the law He gave to No...
