The day that the goats are to be set apart from the sheep. When the wolves in sheep clothing shall be exposed and the flattery of the devil shall be foiled and exposed – the days is coming.   Yes, we are in the last days. We shall highlight come points which are noticeable or peculiar to these days. We have the positive and the negative ones. There are signs which the Lord has given unto us that are to be used to determine and identify if truly we are in the last days.   “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed – Mark 1:35.”   The scripture admonishes us about the necessity of doing things early. This is exemplified in the usage of times and seasons as God had ordained them for us. When God created times and seasons, there must be reason for doing so. In fact, the works of God were confined within the scope of time. This is not to say He is limited by it, rather it is to make us understand that everyday is ordained by God for a purpose.   Learning from the account of creation, we ought to think and perceive God to be the One who loved doing things early. If we can conceive it so, we can establish it thus that He started His work early. As a matter of truth, the first verse in the scripture tells us about how seriously God takes His duties – “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth – Gen. 1:1.” Well, without speaking much of God on th...

  “And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword – Proverbs 30:9.”   The Jacobs must have their times of drought consumption during the day, the biting frost at night and sleep departing from them. The Josephs must have their lots when thrown in the dry well, sold into slavery and cast into the prison. The Daniels must have their denials and dens. Others among the saints and elects of God must experience and taste the cruelty of this world.   Yea, the Jacobs must come forth victorious in all these. They must get to bethel to meet with God again else they aren’t Jacobs. The Josephs must overcome the temptations and then ascend the throne if not so, they aren’t Josephs. As for the Daniels, they must not be caught unawares. When tried, the lions’ mouth must be stopped and they must come forth pure, unblameable and without fault.   All God’s children shall have their times of trials.   “None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him – Psalms 49:7.”   It is believed by many, especially when it has biblical support, that money answereth all things, that there is nothing wealth cannot be used to do. It seems people now see wealth as the Alpha and Omega. When you observe the way and manner men now parade themselves about getting wealth, riches, material possession and monetary endowment, you must believe that the faith people have in money is more than faith in God.   Today, it is the will of God to show us that everything in heaven, on earth, under the earth has limitations except God. All things are limited but God. your father has limitations likewise your mothers. Listen to this, you are limited also. You aren’t the Alpha and Omega. There is limit to what man can, will, shall do. All men have their limits.   As it is with men, so it is with things. All things are within the scope of limitation. Ever...

  “Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king – 1Peter 2:17.”   Nobody likes to be disgraced or thrown into the pool of reproach. To an extent, everyone loves a certain measure and degree of respect, dignity and honour. God’s intention for man is to be honourable. He created us and placed us in a position of honour. That is the reason for the authority and dominion level given unto man. Imagine a person who is fruitful, multiplying, replenishing, subduing and dominating, such a man will be respected among others.   However, it is so sad that sin brought dishonour and reproach to man. Again, I say, sin is dishonourable. There is nothing honourable in sin. Since the Bible says, “…marriage is honourable in all and bed undefiled” , what do you think defiling the bed would bring?   “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you – James 4:7.”   Though man was created to depend on God from the beginning. True, he was created to be as God in this world too just as we have it written in the book of Psalms that – “The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men – Ps. 115:16.” Also, it is true that God gave man dominion over all He created as far as earth (sky, land and sea) is concerned. It pleased the Lord in the beginning to create man so. He was perfect (very good) in the day he was made. However, the situation changed the moment the tempter and the adversary of man came to deceive in the place where God placed them (man) in the garden. After this event, there was a huge gap between God and man.   “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live – Deuteronomy 30:19.”   Since the beginning, this world has been in twos – heaven and earth, light and darkness, day and night, land and sea, male and female etc. This is how the world is fashioned. This possibility of options has made choice available to man. And he has been in the business of choosing one thing or the other.   The matter of choice is such that one is to be taken while the others are left. However, once the choice is made, the person is left to face the consequences of their actions. The same is applicable to the word of God sent to us today. Here we see God speaking to His people by the mouth of His servant that there is life and death set before them. He, therefore, admonished them to choose one and leave off the other. “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success – Joshua 1:8.”   To serve the Lord, courage is needed. It is not the kind of courage built by man. It is not a man-made kind of being bold or strong. It is not derived by lifting weight and developing physical physique. It is true that bodily exercise profited little. This profit has little or nothing to do with the form of courage we are talking about.   Courage is not by size, height or position. Any courage that is nurtured because of physical structure or make up is not going to be a lasting one. It is not a courage to be relied upon. “And His disciples came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish – Matthew 8:25.”   There is a passage in the scriptures where a certain nation cunningly brought themselves to become slaves or servants under Israel. The next question in one’s heart would me, why would anyone do such? The answer is simple, they were afraid of the punishment and judgement awaiting all those who are against God - "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God - Ps. 9:17." Also, they marvelled at the wonderful acts of God which He had done with and in His people, Israel. So, the people of Gibeon came by subtilty to submit. The next question is, what happened after that? When the enemies of the Gibeonites came, that is the Amorites, they called upon Joshua to come save them. “A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in His holy habitation – Psalms 68:5.”   All men are God’s by creation. No man is made out of self-imagination from himself. None! God created all men. This is the reason He is known as the God of all flesh. This name is not just for title’s sake. There is more to the name thaN we could possibly think. God made it clear to us in His word that – “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine… - Ezk. 18:4.”   This leads us into today’s topic: Jesus cares for the widows. This does not literally mean He doesn’t care for others. But we shall be concentrating on the particularity of the case before us.   God takes the position of a Judge when it comes to the widows. He does not want anyone to cheat them. To God, it is His nature to defend those who have no one to fight for them. He shows up for the weak, vulnerable and those who have no might.   “Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed – Isaiah 6:10.”   The real sickness and original state of the same in every man begins in and from the heart. The state of the heart determines how healthy man will be. Do not marvel when the scripture says as a man think in his heart so he is. It is not just thought alone, when the heart of a man is healthy, definitely his body will experience the same.   “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do – Hebrews 4:13.”   There is nothing new under the sun, said the writer of the book of Ecclesiastes.
