It is defined to be what we see or our perception of what is seen. Though, vision is defined to be the imagination or the ability to perceive something. But in the real sense of it, vision is ability to see. What is seen and the manner of appearance is another thing entirely. The main definition of vision is seeing.   Today, our focus on vision is how it comes and how it is shaped. The only reason and method outlined by God to shape vision is by the word of God. it was when God said to Abraham or when He sent His word unto him that he was able to see. Hearken, the Lord called unto Him to look and by that reason he saw.   So, what makes us to see vision is by the word of the Lord. Remember, ...

  “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body – James 3:2.”   There are many things we have been advised, admonished and told to keep diligently, to guard cautiously and to protect passionately. We have the heart – “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life – Pro. 4:23.” We are told to be careful with what we look upon – “I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? – Job. 31:1” Also, in the words of our Lord Jesus Christ – “…That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart – Matthew 5:28.”   There are instances we are instructed to keep and guard our steps and feet too – “Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil – Ecc. 5:1.” It is not just because of ...

“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones – Isaiah 57:15.”   Many believe that God dwells in heaven. Well, that is not the whole truth. It is true that God’s throne is in heaven. But you see, throne is just part of a house or dwelling place. The book of Isaiah says – “Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? – Is. 66:1.” So, in this case, heaven is His throne and if we take heaven for throne, throne is not a place to dwell as such. It is a sitting place. So, we can liken heaven to God’s seat.   Jesus Christ gave us an account into the Father’s house which many believed to mean heaven.   “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit – Ephesians 5:18.” Drunkenness is something that the bible talks about. The scripture is not silent about this subject. The major form of drunkenness recorded in the Bible is with wine. Noah was full of it and he cursed his grandchild. Lot was made drunk by his two daughters. He lost control over his will and mind and he slept and impregnated them giving birth to children who became thorns in the flesh of the nation Israel. Nabal lost his right sense of judgement because of this when David sent unto his men unto him for assistance. “And ye shall be holy unto Me: for I the LORD Am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be Mine – Leviticus 20:26.”   It is a known fact that to be holy is seen as something that has no worth among the worldlings. We cannot blame them because it is not good to cast holy things before dogs. Among many people in the world, the word holiness sounds worthless, old-school and without any benefit. Some even viewed it as a bitter life and difficult lifestyle. There are people who hate the word with everything it stands for. In all these, be ye known unto you and do not be discouraged if you are found to be among the few who believe that God has a plan for approving holiness. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth - 2Timothy 2:15.”   There are duties expected of man from God to be approved. Before any man would be approved of God, the basic bed rock is faith – faith in Christ Jesus. This is because “without faith it is impossible to please God… - Heb. 11:6.” However, there are works of faith, one of which we shall be examining today.   Among various works of faith, studying is important. It is not just to study but the studying of the word of God. we know that God faith comes by hearing. But hearing what? “Can two walk together, except they be agreed? – Amos 3:3.”   Agreement is a powerful tool that can either be used constructively or destructively. While agreement with God and His people is constructive, that which is done with the devil and his agents is destructive. In agreement, God created man in His image and likeness – “Let us create man…” In agreement, men gathered themselves together to build a tower whose height would reach heaven. Even God had to bear them witness that – “…Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do – Genesis 11:6.”   In ancient times, small nations would join league together to topple a larger and tyrannical nation to whom they brought tributes at former times.   “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon – Matthew 6:24.”   Oh my people, hearken and give ears to this. O ye men, which is easier, to serve one or two people. Every wise man knows that it is better, convenient and acceptable to serve one person at a time than serving two people. The Spirit cries unto all whose heart is willing to be applied unto wisdom to serve the living God for this is good and acceptable.   Service entails giving or using one’s time, strength and substance (material physical and spiritual) to another person [but in this case God] to show commitment, honour and the degree of love toward Him. There are various ways service can be expressed, demonstrated and given.   God created man to serve Him. In a sense and to a very large extent, service is a form of worship.   “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit – Ecclesiastes 7:8.”   Everything that has beginning must surely have an end. When God started His work in the beginning, while the first day's works were fulfilled, the seventh day was for rest. It does not mean God stopped working because He is still working even till now rather, He is passing an instruction to us that there is beginning and ending to everything done.   Today, as we consider the message God has for us, it is necessary to remind both the sinners and the saints that surely there IS AN END. Let the wicked and the righteous have it at the back, front and middle of their mind that there is an end. Oh wicked soul, an end will surely come. Are you prepared for it?
